What this Desk keeps track of.
Pego’s Desk is a personal, single-editor catalogue. There are no visitor accounts, no comments, and no submissions — this page explains the little that is measured and the much larger amount that never is.
What is measured.
A small first-party counter, stored in this site’s own database, adds one to a daily total whenever a visitor opens a source link, expands a card’s details, opens or copies an internal permalink, submits a search, gets zero results, changes a filter, uses “Surprise me,” opens a category or tag, clicks a contact link, or opens a feed. Each record is only ever: the event name, the calendar day (UTC), and — for a handful of events — the internal ID of the bookmark or the taxonomy term involved. Matching rows are merged into a single running count, so “outbound clicks on a given day” is all that is ever stored — never a list of individual visits.
What is never collected.
- No cookies, local storage, or visitor/session identifiers
- No IP addresses, device fingerprints, or user agents
- No search query text, filter values beyond a taxonomy slug, or Pego’s notes
- No third-party analytics, trackers, or advertising scripts
Measurement fails silently: if the browser blocks it, has JavaScript disabled, or the request simply doesn’t arrive, nothing else on the page changes and nothing is retried.
Outbound links and contact.
Source links leave this site for the original publisher, which has its own, separate privacy practices. Writing to hi@pego.tech or opening a conversation on LinkedIn is handled entirely by your email provider or LinkedIn — this site stores none of that correspondence.
